Preparing Your Empty Tank for Recycling or Disposal
Our Medium and Jumbo Helium Tanks, made from steel, are non-refillable but can be recycled or safely disposed of in trash receptacles when empty. Follow these steps:
Tools Required
- Gather your supplies and be sure to wear protective gloves and goggles.
Open the Green Valve
- Turn the green valve counterclockwise to fully open it.
Empty the Tank
- Push down on the nozzle until the tank is completely empty (you'll hear the hissing sound stop).
Unscrew the Valve Nut
- Carefully unscrew the white valve nut.
Remove the Nozzle
- Remove the nozzle and discard it.
Discard the Small Disk
- Lift and peel back the small disk using a hammer and flat head screwdriver, then discard it.
Mark the Tank as Empty
- Circle the open hole and write "empty" on the tank.
Recycle or Dispose
- Properly recycle or dispose of the tank. Check with your local waste authority to explore recycling options in your area.
Storing Medium and Jumbo Tanks for Future Use You can safely store our Medium and Jumbo helium tanks for later use. Simply ensure the green valve is tightly closed before storing between uses to prevent helium leakage. For optimal results, we recommend using the helium within one year from the initial use.
